TB - Tall Bearded Irises
Tall Bearded Irises are the most common group of irises, often called garden irises. In this group you will find large-flowered irises, usually 70 cm to 120 cm high. In Europe, they come into bloom on around 10th May. We cultivate them with love in South Moravia region of the Czech Republic. They are easy to grow and fully frost-resistant. From tens of thousands of bred varieties you can find here our selection of the best, easily grown sorts coming mainly from European and American breeders. Flowers are large, mostly wavy, sometimes of exotic shapes, one- or multicolored, differently dotted or stripped, often pleasantly fragrant. Flowers grow on one main and 2-4 side stems. Each of them has 1-3 buds, so 7-12, even 15 flowers gradually bloom in one plant. These irises love sunny locations; they can be planted individually, or together with other perennials. Flowers are very suitable for cutting.
For better orientation, TB irises on these pages is possible to sort by height into two groups:
Tall Bearded Irises - higher than 90 cm
Tall Bearded Irises - up to 90 cm (71-89 cm) high
They can also be sorted by flower color, fragrance or flower type:
Self – i.e. one or more tones of one color
Bicolor – i.e. two different basic colors
Plicata – striped, dotted, splashed etc. on a white or colored base
Space Ager – with beards extended to a few cm in length - in the form of horns, spoons...
Broken Color – basic dark color with wild light splashing, or light background with dark pattern
We accept orders all year round, bareroot plants are sent (by Zásilkovna or Czech Post) from mid-July to the end of September. If you want to order both bearded irises (TB, SDB, MDB) and peonies, you need to order peonies on a separate order, because we send bearded irises in the summer, but peonies in autumn (or in early spring). Together with bearded irises - siberian and spuria irises, daylilies and hostas can be ordered.

GARDEN PLEASURE (Mego 2012)
Standards cream yellow with darker veins, falls wine-magenta, center of petals lavender blue, edges cream brown, wavy. Beards yellow with orange tipped hairs. Slight sweet fragrance.
GEORGETTE SILK (Blyth 2014)
Standards salmon pink, falls salmon pink, overlaid rose, prominent deeper rose textured veining and narrow salmon pink edge. Beards tangerine orange. Ruffed with lots of lace. Late blooming season. Excellent, very popular, but rare sort.
germanica Spectabilis
Standards blue to blue-violet, falls blue-violet, bent down, around the white bears with a fine pattern. Height 40-50 cm. Blooms in May. Nice iris, especially suitable for sunny rock gardens. Flowering time April / May. Fine iris for sunny rock gardens.
GIRL'S FAVOURITE (Blyth 1995/96)
Medium bright pink self, beards bright coral. Ruffled flowers, vital and healthy growth. Pronounced sweet fragrance.
GLOWING SMILE (Hager 2001)
Standards white, ruffled, falls yellow with white rim and gold yellow venation. Beards yellow. Fine combination of two colors.
GNU (Kasperek 1994)
Standards light lavender ground washed medium lavender and off-white with medium violet splashes. Falls same, heavier medium violet purple on shoulders. Beards burnt orange tipped violet. Flowers ruffled and flared, slightly fragrant.
GNU AGAIN (Kasperek 1994)
Standards medium violet with random off-white splashes, falls dark violet with random white breaks and splashes. Beards burnt orange tipped medium violet. Flowers ruffled. Slight pleasant fragrance.
GOING GREEN (Mego 2008)
Standards white, slight olive-yellow at midrib, falls olive green to light yellow-brown, faint white edge, ruffled. Beards mustard yellow. Great sort in high demand.
GOLDEN FASAN (Muska 2000)
Standards lemon cream with golden overlay, ruffled and laced, falls cream white with golden edge, strongly laced. Very long beards yellow and feathery fringed. Unique Space Age (SA Type) sort coming from Slovak breeder L. Muška.
GOLDEN PANTHER (Tasco 2000)
Standards and falls heavily ruffled, gold overlaid bronze, highlighted darker bronze at edges. Beards mustard yellow. Height 85 cm.
GOLDKIST (Black 1993)
Standards white, falls white overlaid with a yellow gold band at the base and with purple veining in the throat, around the bright yellow beards. Not too big flowers, but a most unusual color combination.
GRACIOUS CURVES (Blyth 2001)
Standards pure white, falls bright fuchsia magenta to rosy plum with white edge, ruffled. Beards bright tangerine. Slight fragrance.
GRAND CANARI (Cayeux 2006)
Standards pure yellow, falls yellow, white center line. Standards and falls very ruffled. Beards orange with elongated white horn. Height 100 cm, late bloom. Belongs to the Space Age group of irises.
GRECIAN SEA (Mego 2009)
Standards light blue with faint yellow gold rim, falls lavender blue, precisely ruffled. Beards red-orange. Excellent sort. Slight sweet fragrance.
GYPSY GEENA (Blyth 2003)
Standards icy white with lavender flush, falls reddish lavender, heavy white venation and icy white edge, very ruffled. Beards white, tipped tangerine in throat. Height 95 cm. Slight sweet fragrance.
GYPSY LORD (Keppel 2006)
Standards blue white , falls ruffled, blue violet marbled wash and wire rim on paler blue, white center and hafts veined violet. Beards orange red. Excellent, highly prized sort, many awards, including Dykes Medal – the best iris in 2015.
GYPSY SMILE (Nejedlo 2016)
Standards creamy white, slight beige rim, falls black purple, ruffled, white eye and blue rim around prominent fiery red beards. Flowers pleasantly fragrant. Excellent sort recently bred by Czech grower P. Nejedlo.
HAPPENSTANCE (Keppel 2000)
Standards ruffled, lightly laced, pink, falls pink with paler center, ruffled, laced. Beards coral orange-red. Leaf base purple. Probably the most hardy and vigorous hybrid of any pink Iris.
HAVING A PARTY (Johnson T. 2014)
Standards white, slight orange flush at base, orange-gold wire rim. Falls white ground, orange veined shoulders and edge around large violet-purple washed falls. Beards bright orange. Sweet fragrance. Beautiful color combination, excellent sort.
HIGH CHAPARRAL (Schreiner 2006)
Standards golden-yellow, ruffled, falls pink-violett with honey shadow around beards lighter eye. Beards yellow-orange. Beautiful, big flowers (15 cm), very ruffled. Very popular.
HIGH CLASS (Black 2003)
Standards pale blue, darker crystalline rim, midrib violet, falls dark velvety purple, narrow medium violet rim, white veins by and dart at end of beard. Beards orange gold in throat, violet at end. Pronounced sweet fragrance.
HOLLYWOOD LIGHTS (Johnson 2011)
Standards buff gold lightly infused violet up midribs, falls dark purple, lighter orchid-purple bands blending into gold rims, ruffled. Beards orange. Sweet fragrance.
HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS (Duncan 2001)
Standards intense deep purple black, falls with darker sheen on ruffles, small white spray pattern near beard, heavily ruffled, laced. Beards blue violet, dark burnt orange in throat. Sweet fragrance.
I FEEL LUCKY (Johnson 2006)
Standards sultry blue-purple, falls rich blue-violet, blue fall overlay, deeper around blue beards. Flowers very ruffled and laced, sweet fragrance. Strong growth, tall and very showy.
