TB - Tall Bearded Irises
Tall Bearded Irises are the most common group of irises, often called garden irises. In this group you will find large-flowered irises, usually 70 cm to 120 cm high. In Europe, they come into bloom on around 10th May. We cultivate them with love in South Moravia region of the Czech Republic. They are easy to grow and fully frost-resistant. From tens of thousands of bred varieties you can find here our selection of the best, easily grown sorts coming mainly from European and American breeders. Flowers are large, mostly wavy, sometimes of exotic shapes, one- or multicolored, differently dotted or stripped, often pleasantly fragrant. Flowers grow on one main and 2-4 side stems. Each of them has 1-3 buds, so 7-12, even 15 flowers gradually bloom in one plant. These irises love sunny locations; they can be planted individually, or together with other perennials. Flowers are very suitable for cutting.
For better orientation, TB irises on these pages is possible to sort by height into two groups:
Tall Bearded Irises - higher than 90 cm
Tall Bearded Irises - up to 90 cm (71-89 cm) high
They can also be sorted by flower color, fragrance or flower type:
Self – i.e. one or more tones of one color
Bicolor – i.e. two different basic colors
Plicata – striped, dotted, splashed etc. on a white or colored base
Space Ager – with beards extended to a few cm in length - in the form of horns, spoons...
Broken Color – basic dark color with wild light splashing, or light background with dark pattern
We accept orders all year round, bareroot plants are sent (by Zásilkovna or Czech Post) from mid-July to the end of September. If you want to order both bearded irises (TB, SDB, MDB) and peonies, you need to order peonies on a separate order, because we send bearded irises in the summer, but peonies in autumn (or in early spring). Together with bearded irises - siberian and spuria irises, daylilies and hostas can be ordered.

Standards pure white, heavily laced and ruffled, falls white with lemon yellow infusion at base, ruffled, laced. Beards light yellow with long white spoon. Slight pleasant fragrance. Excellent sort from the Slovak breeder.

Standards lilac orchid, ruffled and laced, falls red lavender to orchid lavender, lilac orchid edge, incredibly ruffled. Beards bright tangerine. Slight sweet fragrance. Lavishly ruffled and laced excellent sort.

Standards pale golden yellow streaks, falls caramel brown stripes on golden yellow ground, off-white streaking, lightly laced, ruffled. Beards beige. Slight fragrance. Unique color pattern

Standards laced, bright gold deepening to rich old gold at midrib, falls mahogany red-brown with bright gold laced edge, ruffled. Beards mustard yellow. Pronounced sweet fragrance.

The lavender-orchid blue standards pales at the edges, creating an ethereal effect. A white circle and veining pattern vividly contrasts the rich violet-purple color of the ruffled falls.Beards red in throat, yellow tipped in middle, white at end. Pronounced sweet fragrance.

Standards warm white, pale gold rim, falls in upper half white, lined and sanded burgundy plicata, lower half medium gold sanded amber rust becoming heavier and darker toward edges, warm white edge, ruffled, lightly laced. Beards wide, yellow. Slight spicy fragrance.

Standards light blue, silver white streaks, falls violet blue with silver white streaks, ruffled. Beards yellow-orange, hairs tipped blue. Slight fragrance.

Standards light brown splashed butter yellow, falls mahogany brown with silver white streaking, crinkled edges, ruffled.. Beards golden brown. Pronounced spicy fragrance.
TOUR DE FRANCE (Keppel 2004)
Standards white, center flushed yellow, falls golden yellow, velvet texture, ruffled. Beards orange in throat, yellow at end. Slight sweet fragrance.
CELEBRATION SONG (Schreiner 1993)
Apricot-pink standards nicely complement the ruffled blue-lavender or light violet falls. Beards orange. Highly valued sort, delicate flowers. Excellent growth and rich flowering. Fine fragrance.
ANYTHING GOES (Hager 1998)
Raspberry pink standards, deeper rose falls distinctly veined, bright tangerine beards. Big flowers, nicely ruffled. Perfect branching of the stem, good bud count. Prolific and vigorous, healthy growth.

Medium dark purple blue self, nicely ruffled. Wide beards dark orange. Pronounced spicy fragrance. Excellent sort, unique colour combination, many shows winner.
SLOVAK PRINCE (Mego 2003)
Standards white shaded orchid lavender, slight blue veining, gold rim, falls dark velvety blue purple, slightly lighter rim, white area around gold beard with purple veining changing to brown, ruffled. Slight sweet fragrance. Superb, world unique sort from the Slovak breeder.
GNU (Kasperek 1994)
Standards light lavender ground washed medium lavender and off-white with medium violet splashes. Falls same, heavier medium violet purple on shoulders. Beards burnt orange tipped violet. Flowers ruffled and flared, slightly fragrant.
GIRL'S FAVOURITE (Blyth 1995/96)
Medium bright pink self, beards bright coral. Ruffled flowers, vital and healthy growth. Pronounced sweet fragrance.
MODRÝ TRN (Seidl 2002)
Light greyed lavender blue self. Falls with honey and white pattern near beards, ruffled. Beards dark blue, old gold in throat, dark blue horn. Slight fragrance. Unique Space Age sort, coming from the moravian breeder.
SIXTINE C (Cayeux 1995)
Standards pure white, falls white with bright violet blue edge and veins. Beards orange red. Huge flowers on perfect stem with 8 to 9 buds. Sweet floral fragrance.
BRIDAL PARTY (Johnson 2006)
Standards eggshell white, slight buff-pink upward flush, buff gold flush at edge, lightly laced gold edge. Falls cream ground, medium gold haft, slight downward flush to narrow peachy buff edge. Beards bright tangerine red. Slight fragrance. Strong, vigorous and healthy growth.

Standards blue white, falls dark blue violet with white rim, ruffled. Beards yellow, blue at base. Height 95 cm. Highly prized iris.

Standards violet, falls cold white ground heavily peppered violet, darker violet rim. Beards white, tipped golden yellow. Sweet, pleasant fragrance.

Standards and falls heavily ruffled and lightly laced. Standards medium pink, falls wide, palest pink with medium pink diamond dusted bases and wide blended pink margins. Beards white tipped coral pink, white at end. Slight fragrance. Healthy, vigorous plants produce show stalks with 9-10 buds.

White edged leaves year round. Light blue self, standards and falls slightly ruffled. Beards yellow in throat, light blue at tips. Midseason bloom. Strong and very pleasant fragrance.

Standards warm white blushed metallic pink over center blending paler toward edge to darker tan-gold margins, fine darker pink veins, falls pale cream-white center, haft heavily veined tan brown to wide gold peach haft margin extending way down, medium metallic peach sheen over center veined and washed dark violet, ruffled. Beards bright orange. Pronounced sweet fragrance.
