Bareroot Herbaceous Peonies XL and XXL
We offer a limited amount of plants available in extra large sizes (marked XL or XXL):
XL size peonies: When digging out peonies in October, I chose some of the largest, fine grown roots. I marked each individual plant (eg. Avalanche - XL plant No.1) and take a photo. You can order these plants - see the offer in this category below. If you order, for example, Avalanche - XL plant No.1, you will get the plant you see in the photo. Each of these exclusive plants is an original, only one piece is available! These plants are guaranteed to bloom in 2024!
XXL size peonies: I offer for sale big, strong peonies 5 to10 years old. The roots of each plant weigh at least 5 kg, in diam. cca 40 cm. They will bloom profusely in the first year after planting. These plants are still growing in the field, when you order one of them, I'll dig this plant out, clean the roots and prepare it for sending...
Peonies are sent bareroot by post - in the fall (October, November, December) or early spring (late February to mid-April). Ordering only between October and mid-April.
Note: For a better imagination of the size of the roots offered - the length of the white name tag which you can find on each photo of the roots below, is 22 cm.

AVALANCHE - XL plant No. 1 (2023)
In the case you will order this plant, you will receive exactly the one shown in the photo - XL plant No. 1. Flowers large, globular, double, blush-white of waxy texture with a faint pink center and very narrow crimson edges to a few petals. Compact, generally incurved flower with the tips of the outer petals recurved from its ball-like center. Fragrance strong but not sweet.

GARDENIA - XL plant No. 2
In the case you will order this plant, you will receive exactly the one shown in the photo - XL plant No. 2. Full double white flowers with the occasional yellow stamen visible in the center of the large blooms. 'Gardenia' is named after the genus to which the flower form is very comparable to. Many sidebuds, providing an optional prolonged blooming season. Flowers delightfully fragrant, suitable to cutting. Dark green and fairly coarse leaflets on thick stems, fine plant habit.
RED CHARM - XXL
Sensational deep red double flowers. Flowers large (20 cm), perfectly formed. Mild sweet fragrance. The stems are strong and hold the large blooms erect. Excellent foliage. One of the best red coloured peonies, excellent for cutting.
HENRY BOCKSTOCE (Bockstoce 1955)
Full double, huge dinner plate size, rich cardinal red, excellent flowers. True red flower color comes from it being a Paeonia officinalis x lactifora hybrid. The last flowering peony of this hue in the season. Excellent grower, but slow of increase, sparse bush, heavy and tall stems. Highly prized as a cut-flower. Stunning presentation in the garden.
TOP BRASS - XXL
Double flowers, white, wide ivory guard petals surround a large double bomb flower of canary yellow highlighted with light pink petaloids in the center. Light fragrance, good cut flower. Unique white flowers with yellow topping.
SARAH BERNHARDT - XXL
Very large, double, dark rose-pink flowers with a slight red edging in the middle of the flower. A well known variety named for a famous actress, very floriferous, fragrant. Slow grower, many stems, widely used as cut flower.
CALLIE´S MEMORY - XXL
Flowers semi-double, apricot cream with maroon flares and picotee edges. At the opening, the flower has the shape of a rose. Flowers slightly fragrant. Nice foliage, good grower, 100% winter-hardy. Among peonies very unusual flower color, excellent.
PIETERTJE VRIEND WAGENAAR (N.J.Friend 1996)
Large double flowers, light pink heavily dotted dark pink. Unique sort with perfectly round finely dotted flowers. Healthy growth, nice foliage, simply a jewel among peonies! Till now very rare new sort, beautiful, recommended!
