Flowers simple, purplish pink with striking yellow stamens, 8 cm in diameter. After flowering, it produces interesting fruits with shiny black seeds. Very decorative, finely dissected leaves, grows to a height of about 80 cm. Very hardy peony for sunny to semi-shady locations and neutral to calcareous soils, suitable for natural gardens. I am sending three-year-old plants planted in a 2 l container.

Flowers are simple, elegant, pure white with striking yellow stamens, flowers up to 8 cm in diameter. The plants feature highly decorative, finely cut foliage and grow to a height of approximately 50 cm. Native to the Himalayas, this peony grows in busheson dry or rocky slopes. Plant in a sheltered, semi-shaded spot with neutral to calcareous soil. It is also well-suited to the back of perennial borders.
ATHENA (Saunders 1949)
Flowers single, large, ivory-white to apricot-yellow with prominently present lavender flares at the base of the flower petals, contrasting golden-yellow stamens in the centre. It is a quadruple hybrid created from P. lactiflora x {(P. macrophylla x P. mlokosewitschii) x P. officinalis} breeding. Light fragrance. Early blooming, floriferous and vigorous with strong stems. Only rarely offered. Recommended. Plant height 80 cm.
AVIS VARNER (Varner 1981)
Full double flowers, large, deep red, no stamens visible. Excellent stem strength, even with the additional 3 side buds per stem. Strong and healthy bush, height 90 cm. Often used for cutting.

Royal purple flowers irregularly spattered and streaked with white markings, ruffled. Beards light orange. May reach only 60 cm height in very dry and sunny places.

Standards peach pink, purple blended up midrib, falls buff, lavender and blue blend, violet veins, ruffled. Beards tangerine. Fine combination of colors, very suitable for a vase.
