TB - Tall Bearded Irises
Tall Bearded Irises are the most common group of irises, often called garden irises. In this group you will find large-flowered irises, usually 70 cm to 120 cm high. In Europe, they come into bloom on around 10th May. We cultivate them with love in South Moravia region of the Czech Republic. They are easy to grow and fully frost-resistant. From tens of thousands of bred varieties you can find here our selection of the best, easily grown sorts coming mainly from European and American breeders. Flowers are large, mostly wavy, sometimes of exotic shapes, one- or multicolored, differently dotted or stripped, often pleasantly fragrant. Flowers grow on one main and 2-4 side stems. Each of them has 1-3 buds, so 7-12, even 15 flowers gradually bloom in one plant. These irises love sunny locations; they can be planted individually, or together with other perennials. Flowers are very suitable for cutting.
For better orientation, TB irises on these pages is possible to sort by height into two groups:
Tall Bearded Irises - higher than 90 cm
Tall Bearded Irises - up to 90 cm (71-89 cm) high
They can also be sorted by flower color, fragrance or flower type:
Self – i.e. one or more tones of one color
Bicolor – i.e. two different basic colors
Plicata – striped, dotted, splashed etc. on a white or colored base
Space Ager – with beards extended to a few cm in length - in the form of horns, spoons...
Broken Color – basic dark color with wild light splashing, or light background with dark pattern
We accept orders all year round, bareroot plants are sent (by Zásilkovna or Czech Post) from mid-July to the end of September. If you want to order both bearded irises (TB, SDB, MDB) and peonies, you need to order peonies on a separate order, because we send bearded irises in the summer, but peonies in autumn (or in early spring). Together with bearded irises - siberian and spuria irises, daylilies and hostas can be ordered.

MYS HORN (Muška 1999)
Standards pure white, heavily laced and ruffled, falls white with lemon yellow infusion at base, ruffled, laced. Beards light yellow with long white spoon. Slight pleasant fragrance. Excellent sort from the Slovak breeder.
WHITE HOT (Tasco 2008)
Standards cold white, falls cold white, shoulders slight yellow edge formed by thick and wide yellow-gold veins. Beards bright orange. Flowers lightly ruffled and slightly fragrant.
OSTENTATIOUS (Ghio 1997)
Standards black cherry, falls bright gold ground, maroon marginal band with dotting inside band, white area around sienna beards. Height 100 cm.
AS YOU WERE (Stahly 2001)
Standards and falls light pink, ruffled and lightly laced. Beards fire-red, elongated to pink flounces. Height 95 cm. Ellegant iris of the Space Age type.
SPRING MADNESS (Johnson 2009)
Standards white flushed yellow, falls medium yellow, lighter below beards, overlaid with purple-brown veins, wide white edge. Beards yellow-orange. Purple based foliage. Slight fragrance.
MAGIC LAMP (Mego 2009)
Flowers ruffled, standards golden yellow, falls marbled bright dark red edged creamy yellow. Beards gold, red flounces or horns. Slight sweet fragrance. Beautiful sort with clear flower colors, belonging to Space Age Type Irises, bred by Slovak grower A. Mego.
CONJURATION (Byers 1989)
Standards white, lightly infused pale violet blue, falls white, suffusing to deep bright amethyst violet edge. White, horns-like beards tipped tangerine (SA Type). Flowers ruffled. Late flowering, very long and slim inflorescence. One of the most popular irises.
I FEEL LUCKY (Johnson 2006)
Standards sultry blue-purple, falls rich blue-violet, blue fall overlay, deeper around blue beards. Flowers very ruffled and laced, sweet fragrance. Strong growth, tall and very showy.
FLORENTINE SILK (Keppel 2005)
Standards peach pink standards, wide ruffled lavender violet falls with a thin rosy pink band. Coral orange beards. Healthy growth, fine colour combination. Excellent sort…

Standards delicate smoky grey-violet, falls cream, nearly white with blue patch in center, delicate yellow border. Beards golden orange, pale blue at end. Slight sweet fragrance. Extraordinary sort.

Standards peach orange, falls soft pinkish purple wash on lighter edge and around beard, slightly ruffled. Beards burnt orange. Very nice sort.

Standards and falls white, strong blue-violet stitched edge, ruffled. Beards white tipped violet blue. Slight pleasant fragrance.

Standards lavender lilac, falls rich violet with lilac edge, heavily veined white pattern around beards, very ruffled. Beards bright tangerine. Pleasant sweet fragrance.
TOUR DE FRANCE (Keppel 2004)
Standards white, center flushed yellow, falls golden yellow, velvet texture, ruffled. Beards orange in throat, yellow at end. Slight sweet fragrance.
GYPSY SMILE (Nejedlo 2016)
Standards creamy white, slight beige rim, falls black purple, ruffled, white eye and blue rim around prominent fiery red beards. Flowers pleasantly fragrant. Excellent sort recently bred by Czech grower P. Nejedlo.
HAPPENSTANCE (Keppel 2000)
Standards ruffled, lightly laced, pink, falls pink with paler center, ruffled, laced. Beards coral orange-red. Leaf base purple. Probably the most hardy and vigorous hybrid of any pink Iris.
PAUL BLACK (Johnson 2003)
Medium dark purple blue self, nicely ruffled. Wide beards dark orange. Pronounced spicy fragrance. Excellent sort, unique colour combination, many shows winner.

Standards light blue, silver white streaks, falls violet blue with silver white streaks, ruffled. Beards yellow-orange, hairs tipped blue. Slight fragrance.

Bright white flowers, beards red orange with long, very pale blue flounce turning up at end. SA type. Flowers of medium size, ruffled. Slight sweet fragrance. Unique Space Age type.
